Women in Science feature – Maggie Taylor

Name: Maggie Taylor

Title/Position: Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C)

  1. Why did you pursue a career in medicine? I knew at a young age that nursing was where I was destined for a career. That initial interest started when my brother was hospitalized for an extended period of time at a young age. Seeing nurses, doctors, and hospital staff care for one of my own with such knowledge and compassion really spoke to me and I felt the Lord leading my heart to this career.
  2. What made you choose your job? I chose to be a family provider because I knew I didn’t want to care for only adults or only children, but I wanted to care for both. This job has allowed me to do just that and I even get to do it in my own community where I live!
  3. What do you love most about your job? I love that my job and coworkers here at THMH value family. While we do our best to provide the best care for others’ families, they also value our own families as well. This is important to me in a job and something I am very thankful for.
  4. What would you tell a younger girl who wants to be a doctor/nurse etc.? I would tell them to go for it! There are no limits! I would also let them know that it will not be easy! It will take hard work, long hours, and many prayers but if you have a passion for serving others then this career is the place for you and it will serve you well and bring you joy on a daily basis!
